Capital City Complex Systems Symposium 2026

24-25 February 2026, Wellington, New Zealand

Understanding complex systems: Theory, practice and impact

The Capital City Complex Systems Symposium 2026 will explore cutting-edge knowledge of complex systems and complexity, and how this knowledge is being used to better understand systems and drive system change. It features an exciting lineup of local and international keynote speakers, including Carl Bergstrom, Diane Finegood and Brian Castellani, and a strong selection of contributed talks and poster presentations.
A particular focus will be how complexity science has evolved and how it is informing contemporary actions and solutions for prosperous, resilient, equitable and democratic societies – amid growing global challenges.
This is your chance to get in a room with some of the leading experts in complex systems theory, and community members and practitioners who are applying this work to make real positive change in Aotearoa NZ and beyond. The programme is a single stream with ample networking time to maximise your chances of connecting with the right people.

Take a look at the symposium website for the programme and registration details, and we hope to see you there!
