This presentation is an exploration of the current state of government, digital transformation, future intents and ethical positions in the development of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and Machine Learning (ML).
Using a broad systems science approach to link the social systemic impacts of media, governance and digital transformation. While digital protagonists and futurists such as Ray Kurzweil suggest that society is currently in the space of creating G.O.D. (Government of Design) and potentially achieving immortality, the same systems also pose an existential threat to humanity.
Yet what is ‘humanity’ and what does ‘being human’ mean? Algorithms and mathematical formula utilise a ‘value’ system with data that is generated by human interactions to provide vital business information.
In essence, humans being human. If ‘Data’ is the new technological ‘Science’, will the human spirit become a ‘Dot’ to be socially engineered by other Dots of the system?
Could Critical Systems Thinking and systemic intervention be the cognitive approach to reveal the inherent personal value systems that drive and embed themselves within the technical systems we create and potentially avert the unintended consequences of Good intent?

Delia Pembrey MacNamara lives in Canberra, Australia, and is the current President of the International Society for the Systems Sciences (ISSS).
Delia works for the Australian Federal Government in the artificial intelligence, automation and digital transformation applying cybernetics and systems sciences to enterprise and whole-of-government ethics, governance and strategy.
Delia’s core research area is the ontology of boundary from an embodied cognition perspective with a passion for applying her research to care, compassion, aged care reform and reaching for the impossible (which is always possible with others).
Delia is undertaking a PhD researching A Critical Analysis of the development of the Boundary Triage and its Objects as a Critical Systemic Leadership Development tool for the Networked World.
